The Cold One – Fall Social
Join fellow runners and friends this Wednesday at Twisted Trunk, PGA Blvd in Palm Beach Gardens for our Fall Social. It begins at 6 pm. Dubbed “The Cold One,” we celebrate the oft-rumored first cool down in our seasonal weather. A PBRR social is a fun event! We don’t run on this Wednesday, we meet and discuss local races, celebrate recent performances by our athletes, and mingle together among friends. Twisted Trunk is extending their great Happy Hour prices for our group, and we will provide the appetizers. You don’t have to be a member to attend the social. We will be giving away door prizes via a raffle, the raffle tickets are provided free to all current PBRR members. When you learn who we are and what we do… maybe you’ll see why PBRR is for you!
We are the “Social Club With a Running Problem!”
See you on Wednesday!

Local Half Marathon Training Programs Launch
With the welcome return of the Palm Beaches Marathon, our area is fortunate to have several structured programs that begin shortly.
Galloway Palm Beach
The very well-honed walk/run method begun by US Olympian Jeff Galloway begins training for the Palm Beaches Half Marathon this Saturday, August 26th. The group, led by experienced Galloway-certified trainer Lisa Reiss, will meet at Dunkin Donuts (803 Donald Ross Rd, Juno Beach, FL 33408) at 6 am Saturday morning. Please arrive a few minutes earlier to meet the team. This training program is for new and experienced runners looking to complete the 13.1-mile distance race on Sunday, December 3rd. The group develops designated leaders for different pace groups and meets each week. You are provided with a weekly plan and many tips on running gear, race nutrition, recovery, and more.
There is a fee to enroll in this program, which brings many runners into our community each season. For more information, please visit the Galloway Palm Beach Facebook Page, the Galloway Palm Beach website, or email to: runaracenow@gmail.com
Tri Bike Run Half Marathon Training Program
This program begins Saturday, Sept 9th at 6:30 am at Tri Bike Run (13975 US-1, Juno Beach, FL 33408) It is designed to help new runners achieve success in their first half marathon or allow experienced runners to better their time at the distance. The “goal race” is the Palm Beach Half Marathon on Sunday, Dec 3rd. Coach Spencer Cusmano details the program below…
“The idea behind this program is to accommodate a wide variety of runners. I would like the runners to be able to run 3 to 4 miles 3x a week or near this benchmark when they join. However, if they plan on walking they should be able to walk/run 3 miles before joining. I have created two plans to help with anyone that wants to run the race for time, or run/walk the race to just complete it. A rough outline of the 12-week program is to meet once a week on Saturday for our long run. Sunday will be a light/short day. I have scheduled 3 runs at a 4-7 mile distance during the week. One of the toughest things about training is sticking to the schedule, that is why we have this group to help people stay committed and working toward their goal. As the coach, I will hold people accountable, and keep them motivated. The goal is to prepare the runners for race day, make sure they are in shape, and that they stay healthy for race day.”
There is no charge for this program. More information on this half marathon training program can be found at the Tri Bike Run Facebook Page, by email to Coach Spencer at Cusman0S@Gmail.com, or by calling the store at (561) 627-2453
Chamber of Commerce Supports PBRR
West Palm Beach – The Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches contributed $1000 towards the Palm Beach Roadrunner Youth Running Camp Scholarships today. This was made possible through the running of the annual “Women For Women 5k and 10k” race in Lake Worth on May 13th. Race organizer and PBRR Past President Iva Grady was instrumental in arranging for this generous donation. Shown in the photograph are Mark Nosacka, CEO of Good Samaritan Medical Center, Dave Masterson, PBRR President, and Joe Chase, Gunster.
Palm Beach Roadrunners thanks the Chamber of Commerce for this wonderful donation. Each year, PBRR sends young runners from local middle and high schools to Warrior Run Camp in Central Florida.
Similar to last year, a special Awards Night will take place on Wednesday, June 21st at 6:30 pm. We have use of the Auditorium/Cafeteria at Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, nestled between Palm Beach Lakes Blvd and Okeechobee Blvd.
Please join us as we recognize our local runners and send them off to an exciting week of summer camp fun and training! This event will last approximately one hour.

Sunday Morning Track Grows and Changes Time
Our new Sunday Coached Track session is off to a great start! Coach Todd Clements has enjoyed meeting and working with the runners that have joined in for this beneficial and fun track interval workout.
The group size has grown in the first month, a promising sign that a quality group run on a track with a coach is in demand. The weekend time slot allows runners of all abilities to attend this run – free of school, work or child care concerns that would normally exist midweek.
NEW SUNDAY TRACK WORKOUT START TIME IS 6:30 am
Due to the success of the Sunday Track workout, Coach Todd has met with and gotten permission from the Jupiter Community High School administration to begin the workouts a half hour early. The heat in the middle of summer intensifies rapidly, and the runners would benefit from the 6:30 starts and as a result, an earlier finish time. The sun is already up at 6:30, so it’s safe to begin running intervals at that time. The parking lot will be opening earlier beginning next Sunday, July 16th for this purpose.
We invite all Palm Beach Roadrunners to attend this new workout, meet coach Todd, and see how a workout on the track can help you with fitness, racing, and endurance goals. Remember to bring water or your favorite energy drink. Plus, if history serves as a guide, you’ll meet some fun people and leave with a new friend or two!
PBRR Youth Scholarship Awards

Traditional summer camp events such as contests, swimming, and camaraderie are rolled into a week of fun these kids will always remember!
Our Awards Night will take approximately one hour. We encourage all of our members to join us in sending these local winners off to become more knowledgeable and fit runners for their upcoming cross country and track seasons. Light beverages and ice cream cake will be served.

New Weekend Coached Track Workout!
Rogue Runs
Rogue Runs are here, just in time for our warm weather running season!
What is a Rogue Run? A Rogue Run is a PBRR event that mixes running with surprise and friends and fun, all in our beautiful South Florida playground!
We’ll get the word out a few days in advance on social media and our website regarding the details. Where to meet, what time to meet, and approximately how long the run will be. You’re “going rogue” by showing up and participating. There is no schedule as to when they will occur. There is no pattern as to where they will take place. We’ll tip you off on any ” special needs” such as sunscreen, blinky lights, storage gear, etc. Expect the unexpected.
And when we are done, you’ll always have the choice to return home or opt for the “happy ending.”
Stay alert…
