Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) brought their “Move Better Lab” equipment to evaluate our runners last Saturday, Oct 11th. The evaluations were provided free to all interested runners and walkers after the workout at Juno Beach’s Dunkin Donuts.

Each participant was asked to perform simple stretches and movements on two activity pads. These pads were linked to a processor that captured the subject’s movement, balance and timing. The results will be privately emailed to each of our runners. Along with the results the runners will be sent specific videos and recommended exercises to try for more efficient performance. Between 40-50 people took part in the assessment exercises, it was a nice showing!

HSS has done this type of event for the New York Road Runners before. After their visist with us, they bring the Move Better Lab equipment to the NYC Marathon Expo for the attendees prior to the race.

Have a look at the photos below to see how the event transpired. HSS looks to bring the evaluation equipment back to our area in January for additional testing and “re-testing” of individuals to note any changes and improvements.
