Hi Palm Beach Roadrunner Jo Ronk,

How many miles per week do you run? 25-30 miles.

Jo ran the Miami Marathon on February 2, 2014.

Jo ran the Miami Marathon on February 2, 2014.

When and why did you start running?
I started about 5 years ago with the Couch-to-5k program.  I never thought I could run but after my parents passed away, I needed something to help me get through.  Running was the answer.

Why do you run?:
I run for stress relief, weight management, and energy.  It’s amazing how I can be totally exhausted from work but feel so much better after a nice run.

Do you prefer to run alone or in a group?
Both,  I love the long group runs on Saturday and also enjoy the alone time during my weekday runs.

Highlight of running or biggest accomplishment:
Running my first marathon, Miami Marathon, this past February was my biggest accomplishment.  It’s amazing how doing something like a marathon makes anything seem possible.  I loved every part of that race!

Dream run, race or accomplishment:
There are so many races I’d love to do…Big Sur, Paris, London, Tokyo, Boston, New York, Chicago….All the big ones.

Favorite thing about running:
I love how runners just instantly bond.  There’s just something about runners.  They are awesome.  Whenever I go to an expo, I feel like I’m surrounded by my people.  We understand each other and our obsession.

Who inspires you?
All runners inspire me.  I love watching runners in a race.  I always get emotional seeing their struggle.

We’ve heard that Jo is planning on running the Miami-Key West Ragnar relay in 2015 and we’ll check back with her at a later date to hear more about her plans. Good luck Jo!
