Hello Palm Beach Roadrunner Phyllis Frydman.

How many miles per week do you run?

I don’t run as many miles as some but I still call myself a runner, it can be 12, 15, 20 plus or minus a week. It depends on my body feedback and for what event I am training.

FrydmanWhen and where did you start running?

I started running about 13 years ago at age 60, so I could compete in my first triathlon. I was shocked to win 1st place in my age group and realize I was an athlete!

Do you prefer to run alone or in a group?

Although I am self-motivated with my exercise and training, I prefer the camaraderie of a group. I like the support and encouragement I get from a group. There is a special bond I have formed with my running friends that is priceless.

Currently training for: I am training for 2014 NY Marathon and local triathlons

I am proud of my age and hope I can show others it is never too late to enjoy all the benefits of being a runner. I feel great!

Most memorable race or run?

I have done many races and triathlons but running 5 or 10 K’s with 3 generations of family is a wonderful feeling.

Who or what inspires me?

I am always inspired by handicapped athletes and the determination and pain they go through to reach their goals. I’d like to thank all the active people I am around. They inspire me and then they say I inspire them. It is a great circle, just start running and keep moving as long as you can. I am proud of my age and hope I can show others it is never too late to enjoy all the benefits of being a runner. I feel great!

We wish Phyllis all the best in her training for New York Marathon. She’s such an inspiration!
